A downloadable game for Windows

A tiny racing game made as a proof of concept for my Moebius-style hand-drawn renderer.

Very simple game, go through all hoops to complete a lap, three laps total, fastest wins.

Move with arrows key or WASD, and use space to boost (there is no in-game feedback for how the boost works, but you're boosted at 200% speed for 2 seconds, then it takes 5 seconds to recharge).

Cheers

love it, looks great.

very nice! though graphics remind me more of a cozy game than a racing time trial

got a 74.351

Very cool, not much to do now, hope you keep working on it, it is promising!

Very Cool

it looks so cool
I wish the lines were mapped onto the uv map, but it was still cool

i discovered that you can just drive in the distance and get outside the map lol, but i was surprised to see that i didnt fall in the void

Unity Question how do you make the portal so smooth between the transition of renderer, I am trying to recreate that please help

Maybe add a filter only inbetween the portal and then when you touch it it all turns to the filter?

got a time of 75.32

I got this after seeing the shader video on YouTube. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well on my machine. The shader is off-putting and the camera is wonky. Also, the game didn't stop after 3 laps.

that's insanely awesome, may i ask how long did you take to finish this project

About three full days of work for the shader, and like... 4 hours for the racing game it's really not well made

The art is so beautiful! I came here from YouTube, I'm very impressed by the way it looks, excellent work! :D

I don't know if you're continuing to work on the game but a couple quality-of-life things would improve the experience of the game I think, like the ability to tilt the camera up when the car is angled toward the ground, and being able to press ESC to quit. But if you're all done with this project, that's ok!

Interesting experiment, but franky, that shadow texture, which stays on the same spot on monitor (shadows didn't move with objects) causes me headache and motion sickness...

Hey,  any chance of you releasing the unity project files?  I'd love to look at the code and build on your work.   Thanks!

Yes I'm currently trying to take care of that. Should come within the next month

when and where will it be posted?

Hey, it's on the Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/UselessGameDev)

really nice gale i love the game's graphics but there is some problem on the camera.I think to have a camera who at low speed is angling more parralel to the groud and be little bellow would be better. Also increase the FOV would be better. Ex for cam:

now:

C

         \

               \

                    Car

better:

C     -      - Car

(over exagerated)

cant play it :(

I loved the game and the video!!!

Love it. Came here from Youtube. Reminds me of The Return of the Obra Dinn

This style is so fantastic.

Unity! Glad you enjoyed the video

Hi! Idk if it's valuable to you, but I've scanned the .zip file at virustotal [someone had it done before too, as it already had it's hash stored], and one antivirus did detect a trojan :c [here's the scan results - https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/cf01e23d4da70aa9e732f01678ef4ea6520a9d8fbaaf...]

Saw your video and it's so cool! Am following your channel from now on :3

Interesting, I'll check it out, thanks!

This is most likely a false positive.

Since he is alone and would not say that I have ever heard of this antivirus

Hi buddy, awesome shader work. I have been playing with this idea in a project and I was wondering how you got the shadows on the ground plane to work. I am using a texture wrapped around the object as it looks ok on my end but the way you did the ground shadows has confused me. You mentioned something about "Screenspace" in your YoutTube video. Not sure how that works. Is it something to do with the shadow map? I would love it if you could help me out at all. Thanks and great work!

By screenspace I mean the Moebius shader is applied on the final image, treating the entire screen as a sprite. This way, dark areas are shade/shadows.

Cool! Thank you for the extra insight. I'll look into that. Excited to see what you come up with next. 😁👍

It looks pretty but it’s very hard to control and I can’t move the camera, so I can’t see where I am going. This is very frustrating. Also the game performance is pretty bad. But it is very pretty. Good job.

Very impressive!

Love it ! Can we get the source code ?

I love it!

The Shader looks so cool, great work!

love your work!  keep at it !

i bet you can sell this shader :D

cuz i would buy it xD

This is really impressive, it captures the art style. You gotta turn this into something big and do a kickstarter, you will pull in the $$$$$$$$ for sure

Haha thank you! I'll keep making small prototypes for the youtube channel though for the moment. I am actually working on a full size at the moment, so my focus is on getting this one out first before considering other big projects.
I'm glad you liked it though!

I look forward to seeing them for sure
